Join us for a hands-on crafting workshop inspired by our Thrift Styles exhibition! Participants will transform donated and recycled T-shirts into functional woven and braided items such as coasters and hot pads. Through this creative upcycling activity, visitors will explore how everyday textiles can be reused and repurposed rather than discarded.
The workshop will take place in the Keyes Gallery inside the Old Capitol Museum alongside Thrift Styles, encouraging participants to connect themes from the exhibition with practical strategies for reducing textile waste. As guests create their own unique pieces, they will learn about sustainability, mindful consumption, and the environmental benefits of extending the life of clothing through reuse and creative making.
